News flash! I have recently been accepted by Canada World Youth (CWY), an international volunteer aid organization, as a participant in an exchange program between Ontario and Tanzania! The program will be beginning in Peterborough, Ontario, on September 8th, 2009. I will be exchanging to Tanzania on December 9th, 2009, and returning to Canada on March 14th, 2010. The program will be based on environmental volunteer work in both Canada and Tanzania. I will be a member of a group of about 18 youth and two adult supervisors, half of whom will be Tanzanian, the other half will be from all across Canada. I look forward to it as a valuable learning experience, an opportunity to travel to a new place, to make cross-cultural bonds, and offer my direct help in aiding non-profit organizations, a developing country, and the precious and vulnerable environment of Canada, Tanzania, and the World.
Before the beginning of the program I am expected to fundraise $2500 for CWY, half of which must be raised within the next few weeks. If you are interested in helping me to reach this goal, please see this link to make a direct donation: http://www.canadaworldyouth.org/en/Content.aspx?PageId=201&Volunteer=f1588d8112466. I am also offering a range of leather-wrapped Renaissance cord-bound books, Coptic board-backed or paper-wrapped books, or custom-bound character books, the proceeds of which shall go towards my fundraising goal. If you are interested, please contact me.
Anyways, that's the news! I will keep you posted on how things go and where my travels take me. If you would like to be added to or removed from my e-mail list please feel free to let me know.
Once a cruiser always a cruiser, I suppose. Time to hoist the sails and cast off the lines again in September!
